Brecon Beacons Training

Brecon Beacons, Brecon, UK

The highlight of the winter months. We rent out a hostel in the heart of Brecon, in which we engage in a wholesome training weekend. The days include: interval training, a group hike and a long run around a beautiful lake. The evenings are full of fun activities like group cooking and a load of board games. This really isn't a weekend to miss.

Manchester Relays

Willenhall Rd, Manchester M23 0BD, UK

The best event of the year.

Full stop.

End of story.

For those who need a little more convincing, Manchester Relays are a 3km relay race followed by the biggest social you have seen.
Usually this means meeting up with the alumni for a curry (with accompanying antics) followed by going to a pub to meet up with other universities from across the country. A gem of a weekend and something for one and all to enjoy, whether a BMC runner or gravity acolyte.

Bristol Relays

Long Ashton, Bristol BS41 9JN, UK

Saving the best ‘til last.

Bristol Relays is the final cross-country event of the season. Taking place in the idyll of Ashton Court, our home fixture provides the perfect venue to compete against other clubs and universities from the south-west and beyond.

Sodbury Slog

Chipping Sodbury, Bristol BS37, UK

The Sodbury Slog is the muddiest, funniest, wildest and just generally most epic run of the XC season.
There's fancy dress, there's sheep dips, there's lots and lots of mud. What is not to love?

A 10 mile cross-country race, and we mean cross-country, it takes place on Remembrance Day each year, starting in the village of Sodbury, just north of Bristol. It is an excellent antidote to the seriousness of Gwent League fixtures and an excellent laugh.

BUCS Outdoors

Sport City, Ashton New Road, Corbett St, Manchester, UK

Picture it, the long, harsh winter is over, the shortest of shorts are back (did they ever really leave?).

Having completed vital race prep in Malaga, comes an event for throwers and 5000m runners alike.

Surely the best answer to exam stress and dissertation sorrows, BUCS Outdoors is the biggest athletics event of the year and a wonderful moment of crossover between the two sides of the club.

BUCS Indoors

Coleridge Rd, Sheffield S9 5DA, UK

Orange ovals aren’t small enough for you?

How about blue ones?

BUCS Indoors takes place every year in Sheffield and is a fantastic opportunity to lay down some times ahead of track season. The general, and well-established, formula for a great time in Sheffield (the itinerary) looks something like this:

Doing the Zoom + Cider and meatballs in Ikea + Rowdy Irish pub + Running to the club in the pouring rain = Happiness

BUCS XC

Pembrey Country Park, Pembrey, Burry Port, UK

The pinnacle of cross-country racing, BUCS XC is the most important event in the cross-country calendar.
Regularly featuring Olympians on the start list, it is a hard race, but excellent fun.
With hosts stretching from Swansea and Brunel University, all the way to Edinburgh. As usual, we will be sending a coach of Colonels ready to battle it out for UBACCC glory.
