Sophie Peach

Hey, I'm Sophie Peach, a third year Veterinary Science student and President of the University of Bristol Athletics and Cross Country Club or 'UBACCC' for short (get used to chanting this!).

Before coming to University, I was already a club runner back at home in good ol’ Norfolk. Cross-country is my preferred sport, but I run road races and track too, my favourite event being the Steeplechase! Joining UBACCC, not only allowed me to continue doing what I loved alongside my studies, (which can be a great stress reliever at times!), I have also met some amazing people and made best friends for life.

Now we're here, two years on I have had so many fun opportunities and adventures with UBACCC such as: beach trips, training weekends in the Brecon Beacons, BUCS cross-country and track championships, fun runs and my all-time favourite, Manchester relays, (which if you come to freshers, you will definitely hear much more about!).

​

It is definitely a club for everyone and we strive to involve and welcome each and every one of you. If you want structured training and high weekly milage, we can facilitate that with runs and sessions organised every day other than Friday. If, however you don't want to run that much (I don't blame you!), UBACCC also offers an introduction to track and field, sprinting, jumps, and throws. We do chatty runs, short runs, long runs, and fast runs and we even have events that do not involve running at all, such as circuits, swimming and stretching, and of course socials when the only running is to the bar for VKs and Jagers. So, if you enjoy running even the slightest little bit, used to run or think you might at some stage, come along to UBACCC!

No matter what part of the club you decide to embrace, the friendly atmosphere means that everyone is able to become great friends with many members of the club even ending up living together throughout their university life. Whether it's casual exercise, a new friendship group, or fierce competition, UBACCC is the club for you! I look forward to meeting you!!
