Spring Race Round Up

Races have been thick and fast throughout the Spring Term. This all started with the hilly Dubravnik Half by, the lads on tour, Alex Stewart (3rd 76 minutes), Jake Hooley (7th 82 minutes), Felix Dennison (11th 84 minutes). Special mention goes to @jakehooley_ for running a 4 minute positive split. Class is permanent.

Next, the Great Bristol Run. The 10k included Felix Rusby (34:09), Felix Wright (36:50), Harry Chappell (37:46), Georgia Fazakerley (41:03), Liv Wise (45:29), Georgia Carr (47:22) and Ioanna Lekkou (54:24). In the half, James Saunders was the first UBACCC vest (75:15). He was followed by Chuanpeng Has (78:59), Nathan Morris (82:06), Felix Dennison (83:52), Jess Mckenzie (95:25), Martha Cook (105:47) and Amber Stiby (111:23). Furthermore, Abbie Keyte (3:54:51) for the London Marathon and also Ailie Mcluckie (109mins) and Elle Maher (111 mins). Also Chuanpeng Hao has gone on to run 75:43 in the Edinburgh half marathon!

Onto the track season. Alex Wood (4:01), Tom Baines (3:58) completed 1500m. Baines further ran 1:50.87 in his 800 season opener! Alex Aldred has also managed an 800m opener of 1:55, where he managed to win his race. Alex Wood has followed this up with two 800s (1:56) in sub-optimal conditions. Speaking of sub-optimal conditions, we also made the trip to two BMC Regional Meets. Milfield showed some productivity with Alex Stewart running 8:41, followed by the least appetising curry of all time. David Corkey additionally ran 8:53 in the 3000m. As for Exeter, we don’t talk about Exeter. There have been some strong performances by Noemie Thomson, who is currently ranked 3rd in country for u23 3K Steeple Chase, with a time of 10:27. She has further run a 4:33 indoor 1500 and a 9:51 3000.

Will Ralston continued his post-marathon form, with a 17:09 5k in Exeter. He has since ran a 16:42 in the next instalment of the South West PB Series at Odd Down. He was joined, by Alex Stewart, Jake Hooley and Cadie Mabel, in very hot conditions. Finally, a special mention to Matt Kaminer, who managed a incredible performance, winning the Bristol Triathlon. His final time was 1:46:34, besting 586 other athletes.

Hard work from all during tough period emphasises the current strength and depth of the club, which bodes for an exciting season to come.
